Written Assignment Unit Five Starting and owning a small business in America today is risky, as anywhere in the world, I can imagine. The risks are big, uncertain but rewarding. Twenty-eight million small business count for 54% of all US sales as of 2015. Small business as increased in the US 49% since 1982 according to the SBA. In this case review, Athletes Warehouse, I will review its strengths, weakness, opportunities and threats associated with its potential business plan. As a quick review, this case study takes place in the year of 1982-86 for the storyline. There are two brothers, Colin and Ed, Colin owns a store â€Å"The Fitness Factory†. Backing up a few years, the two brothers who enjoy running, would like to open up a store that sells good quality running shoes and clothing. They are deciding on location, if they decide to move forward with the business idea. Colin is a 30-year-old Physical Education teacher, he has a PhD in Physical Education and is currently employed as a teach. He also has a contract to supply the area schools with athletic needs such as shoes and clothing. His brother-in-law is a 46-year-old hockey player who just retired from hockey. Ed is currently employed has a papermaker in a local paper mill. They both own the Athletes Warehouse in 1985 in Comer Brook, which closed in 1986. Even in the education field, educators may not be able to correctly define both. Are multiple intelligences and learning styles two different names of the same thing? This paper will discuss their differences and similarities. According to Dunn, Denig, and Lovelace (2001) â€Å"Multiple Intelligences addresses what is taught, while learning style addresses how it is taught, and in what context† (p. 11). There are three learning style: Auditory: prefer to learn by hearing; Visual: prefer to learn by seeing; and Kinesthetic: prefer to learn by doing. Two shop clerks, Klara Novak and Alfred Kralik, disagree on everything and ridicule each other anytime possible. What they do not know is that they have been exchanging love letters to each other anonymously. Throughout the course of the film the two fall in love with each other and by the end it is presumed that they will get engaged. He tells her that is much more romantic to buy a wallet so that when he opens it he can see her picture and a letter from her. However, defining hate as the basis for a crime is not as easy without possibly jeopardizing constitutional rights in the process. Hate crime laws generally add enhanced punishments to existing statues. A hate crime law seeks to treat a crime, if it can be demonstrated that the offense was a hate crime differently from the way it would be treated under ordinary criminal law. Since the 1980s, the problem of hate crimes has attracted increasing research attention, especially from criminologists and law enforcement personnel who have focused primarily on documenting the prevalence of the problem and formulation criminal justice responses to it. Lawmakers have passed legislation to encourage data collection and attach enhanced penalties to hate crimes at both state and federal levels. When Americans are assaulted merely because of their real or perceived sexual orientation, gender, or disability, the law should be as tough on their assailants as it currently is tough on criminals who attack based on racial, religious, or ethnic bias. Yet only in rare circumstances can the federal government investigate and prosecute hate violence against gays, lesbians, or bisexuals. Attempts have been made to reach a definition of hate crime, including that it is a crime, most commonly violence, motivated by prejudice, bias or hatred towards a particular group of which the victim is rarely significant to the offender and is most commonly a stranger to him or her.
